RAMBLINGS FROM THE PRESIDENT

The Ides of March are upon us and it is time to start thinking about all of those antenna projects that a lot of us have been putting off all winter.

Of course it is time to set aside May 1 to attend the annual MMRG picnic

and yearly membership meeting.

Annual MMRG Picnic and

Membership meeting

May 1, 2010

To be held again this year at the home of K7POF Bob

and Linda W7POF

171 Caliche Drive

Chino Valley, AZ 86323

Phone 928-636-2146

k7pof@verizon.net

Details below

Going north in Chino Valley on

Arizona Hwy
89, turn left at
Center Street
(stoplight). Go west about 3/4 of a mile to
Caliche Drive
then turn left to
171 Caliche Drive
. You can't miss all the antennas.

We would like to have as many as possible park in the yard to keep cars off of the street. After lunch there will be a business meeting. The board is looking forward to your comments about the group and repeaters.

Feel free to bring a Ham guest or two in hopes we can increase the membership of MMRG.

We are looking forward to seeing all of you there.

For those of you members that haven't been to our picnics before. It is a potluck picnic with

MMRG furnishing Hot dogs, Hamburgers, and drinks. We encourage you to come early Saturday AM

as there will be hot coffee starting around 9 am or earlier. Some attendees arrive a day or so before and camp out in yard, there are minimal hookups but you are welcome to come and dry camp a day or so.

We try to have the grill hot and cooking around 12 noon, also have the food on the potluck tables at that time as well.

Recently our Technical Chairman Chuey Mendoza resigned from his position as well as from the board of directors.

Chuey and his Wife Nellie are going to be doing some traveling and not be around to take care of repeaters.

Along with Chuey quitting, Tony Brown WB6LWI has quit as well.

Recently we have been having problems with a terrible noise on the 147.000 repeater Due to the heavy snow on the mountain we aren’t able to get there to do any repairs so from time to time the repeater will be shut off.

If you are operating on the repeater when this noise starts please do not continue to operate as it will only get worse until the repeater is allowed to rest for a while.

As soon as possible we will get there and find out the problem and rectify it.

If any of you have any suggestions for a replacement person for Chuey please notify me at  k7pof@verizon.net    thanks.

Don’t forget the Tuesday night net on 147.000 + 600 PL 162.2 at 7:30 PM. WA7UID Phil NCS.

Also check out the Web site at http://mingusmountain.org

Webmaster Jerry Roberts KB7CN.

If you have an E-Mail address please send it to me via e-mail so I can send out the News letter that way it saves both time and postage. My e-mail address is k7pof@verizon.net.com

Looking forward to seeing you at the picnic.

SECRETARY REPORT

I hope all of you have had a safe and healthy winter. Hard to believe that spring is right around the corner. The desert really needed this wet winter. It is totally green now and the yellow flowers are popping up. Enjoy it while you can because if I remember correctly summer follows spring.

Hope to see you all at the annual potluck in Chino Valley. We appreciate Bob & Linda hosting it again this year.

Be safe out there.

Pat K7PAT
